My Approach

Based on trauma-informed and integrative counselling approaches, I work collaboratively with clients to create a treatment plan that is evidence-based and tailored to unique needs and preferences.

With specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), clients develop concrete skills to manage distress, reduce trauma responses, and mitigate. risk for burnout.

Knowing that skills may only go so far, other preferred theories and approaches include Internal-Family Systems, Logotherapy (existential meaning), Mindfulness-Based Experiential, and Polyvagal (neuroscience of fight/flight/freeze).

These theories and principles often compliment each other; allowing clients to make sense of present and past distress, explore their sense of self, improving confidence in relationships, change undesired patterns, and reduce physical signs of stress.

This integrative approach is also well adapted to serve youth clients. I often use methods of creative expression and attachment-focused strategies to help youth find resilience. Our conversations will be centered on finding a sense of belonging, and a sense of self as they grow.

Hands up

Client-Centered Services

Therapy should be a safe, empowering, non-judgmental space where no topic of discussion is off the table. My counselling is inter-sectional, non-oppressive, and LGBTQ+ affirming.

I realize that cultural, spiritual and other marginalized identities may enrich and complicate one’s experiences in this world. I am open and accepting towards my client’s desires to explore these identities in therapy.
